The Afara Initiative is a social enterprise that partners with various actors in the human and economic development value chain – universities, government, think tanks, corporations and donors – to develop future-fit graduates at scale. We enable this through innovative teaching and learning methodologies, strong support networks and systems, and real-world professional experiences.

When we launched our flagship program in 2014, our founders were driven by a bold vision for a globally competitive and prosperous Nigeria. Our goal is simple: to harness the ingenuity of Nigeria’s young people by enabling them to establish viable businesses, build resilient institutions and communities, and foster a vibrant economy.

Recognizing the limitations of traditional approaches to preparing young people to compete and thrive in today’s globalized economy, The Afara Development Model focuses on three mutually reinforcing elements, which lie at the core of our program interventions. We believe this represents our innovative edge.
